Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s national call to
increase awareness of heart disease and to inspire women to take charge
of their heart health. Women who understand their risks of heart
disease, and know the steps to prevent it, are better equipped to avert
this serious—and mostly preventable—threat to their health. Go Red For
Women provides the knowledge and tools to empower women to make positive
changes in their lives that could help reduce their risk of heart
disease and stroke. (read less)

2010 JazzyJune raised $2000 raised for NMSS-GNC Between sponsorships, raffle sales and Dessert Dash donations we raised $2000 for the National MS Society, Greater Northwest Chapter.

Every year Women's
Resource chooses a non-profit to benefit from the event. This year and
last year we chose to benefit the National MS Society, Greater Northwest Chapter
because of our close connection to the disease. Three years ago, while 5
months pregnant with her first child, one of our staff members lost her
father to MS after his courageous 28 year battle with the disease.
Jerry had the worst type of MS that one can get and his body eventually
broke down from it. The majority of people living with MS aren't
diagnosed with this type of MS and are able to get medication and
therapy to keep them mobile and functioning normally. The type Jerry had
currently has no medication to treat it. The MS Society funds research
that will one day find a cure for all types, including this type.
Treatments are on the horizon but have not yet been approved. This is
why we choose to help, so that one day others won't have to live with
the challenges, struggle and pain that Jerry and his family went through
for so long due to this disease. Jerry didn't get to meet his first
grandbaby but he created a fire in his children to make a difference for
others that will passed down to all of his grandbabies. Women's
Resource supports the MS Society by teaming up every year for the MS
Walk and Bike MS as well. To learn more about how you can get involved, check out their website and pick an event. Let us
know if you'd like to join our teams or
take it one step further and start your own teams to help create a world
FREE of MS.
